Surrealism

Name:
Salvador Dalí (1904-1989)

Title: Meditative Rose 1958

Description: there is a landscape and then just a rose floating in mid air.

Analysis: the background is light in the center and gets darker as it goes out to the ground and the sky. The rose seems to be giving of its on lumina
nce making it lighter around it. The rose itself also has a great deal of shadows and highlights to give it depth.

Interpretation: I think
Dalí was trying to show that fragility of life because roses are generally depicted as frail flowers.

judgment: I like this picture because it is very simple and still can say a lot.

Name: Dennis Sibeijn

Title: Light Leaks

Description: The picture is of a broken light bulb with a liquid oozing out. The ooze is supposed to be the light in the light bulb

Analysis:
The ooze is what is giving off the light and it gets darker the further from it.

Interpretation:
I think that the artist wasn't trying to say anything with this picture it just looks interesting.

judgment: I also like this picture because of its simplicity.
